The Canon of the Aesir
The full story, from the void to the rebirth
What follows is Northern Tales' own canon: an attempt to capture the humour, the rawness, and the feel of the Old Norse stories as they may have sounded by the fires a thousand years ago.
The stories are real. Every event, every name, every turn has its basis in the Eddas and the Icelandic manuscripts. But the order is our own, and the details carry the freedoms that belong to a story. We have woven together fragments from different poems, built bridges between episodes that stand alone in the sources, and sometimes chosen one version's detail over another's.
This is not an academic reconstruction. It is a saga.
