The narrative concludes with Gangleri finding himself standing on an open plain. The stronghold, the three men and the whole company have vanished. He makes his way home and tells his people what he has heard. Snorri concludes with a reflection on how the divine names lived on in the memory of peoples.
Þá heyrði Gangleri dynur miklar, ok leit um þvert sik, ok er hann sá þar til, stóð hann á sléttum velli, ok sá hann þá enga höll ok enga borg. Fór hann þá leið sína.
Then Gangleri heard great crashes and looked about him, and when he gazed around he stood on an open plain and could see neither hall nor stronghold. He then went on his way.
Gangleri fór til ríkis síns ok sagði þau tíðindi er hann hafði sét ok heyrt. En æsirnar rœddu þá mál sín saman ok minntust þessar sagna. Þar gáfu þeir nöfn þeim er greind eru á þessum sögum.
Gangleri went to his kingdom and told of what he had seen and heard. The gods deliberated among themselves and recalled these stories. From these accounts they gave names to those who appear in these tales, so that the divine names lived on among the peoples.
