The gods raise the vault of the sky with four dwarves at its corners and fill it with sparks from Muspelheim that become stars, and they create the sun and moon whose courses they ordain.

Þeir tóku hans haus ok gerðu þar af himin ok settu hann upp yfir jörðina með fjórum stoðum. Ok undir hvert horn settu þeir dverg. Þeir heita svá: Austri, Vestri, Norðri, Suðri.

They took his skull and made from it the sky and set it up over the earth with four pillars. Under each corner they placed a dwarf. They are named thus: Austri, Vestri, Nordri, Sudri.

Þeir tóku þær síur ok spruklur þær er lausar fóru ok kastar höfðu verit ór Múspellsheimi, ok settu á miðjan himin, bæði ofan ok neðan, til at lýsa himin ok jörð. Þeir gáfu staðar öllum stjörnum.

They took the embers and sparks that had broken free and been cast out from Muspelheim and set them in the midst of the sky, both above and below, to give light to heaven and earth. They appointed paths to all the stars.
