The fortress and home of the gods high above the nine worlds.
Ásgarðr is the home world and fortified citadel of the Æsir, situated at the crown of the world tree Yggdrasil. Within its bounds stand halls such as Valhöll, Gladsheimr, and Valaskjálf, each serving a distinct purpose in the divine order.
Ásgarðr is ringed by a great wall said to have been built by a giant with the aid of his horse Svaðilfari, an episode that led to Loki's cunning intervention and the giant's ultimate downfall.
