Ragnarök is the final catastrophe in which the world perishes in fire and water. Fenrir breaks free, Jörmungandr rises from the sea and the gods meet their mortal enemies in the decisive battle on the plain of Vígríðr.
After the destruction a new, green earth rises from the sea and the surviving gods Baldr and Höðr return. Ragnarök is not only devastation but a cosmic cycle of renewal.
