Thor and Loki set out eastward toward Jötunheimr, with the peasant children Þjálfi and Röskva as companions. They lodge overnight at a farmstead. Thor slaughters his goats and gives them to the farmer's family to eat. Þjálfi breaks a bone to get at the marrow. The next morning Thor revives the goats with Mjölnir, but one of them is lame.
Þórr fór austr í Jötunheima ok Loki með honum, ok Þjálfi ok Röskva, systkin. Um kveldit kómu þeir til bónda nökkurs ok gáfu þar náttstað. Um kveldit tók Þórr hafra sína ok skar báða, ok var þar búinn til suðrs.
Thor traveled eastward to Jötunheimr and Loki with him, along with the siblings Þjálfi and Röskva. That evening they came to a farmstead and were given lodging for the night. In the evening Thor took his goats and slaughtered both of them, and they were prepared for supper.
Þórr lagði húðirnar út frá eldinum ok mælti at bóndi ok heimamenn skyldu kasta beinunum á húðirnar. Þjálfi braut lærisbeini eins hafsins ok smellti á merginn. Um morguninn stóð Þórr upp ok tók Mjölni ok vígði hafrskinnarnar. Risu upp hafrarnir, en annarr hafr var haltinn.
Thor laid the hides out from the fire and said that the farmer and his household should throw the bones onto the hides. Þjálfi broke the thigh-bone of one goat and split it to get at the marrow. In the morning Thor rose and took Mjölnir and hallowed the goat-hides. The goats stood up, but one was lame.
