Kennings for the heart ('the mind's stone/apple/nut'), the breast ('the heart's house/ship') and the mind (hugr = sefi, ást, vili). Thought (Huginn) is periphrased as 'the wind of troll-women'. Long lists of the mind's good qualities (þrekr, minni, tryggð) and ill (reiði, harmr, ótryggð).

The heart is called negg. It shall be periphrased by calling it the corn or stone or apple or nut or ball or the like, and periphrased by the breast or mind; one may also call it the house or earth or rock of the mind. The breast shall be periphrased by calling it the house or enclosure or ship of the heart, of the breath or liver, the land of vigour, of mind and memory. The mind (hugr) is called sefi and sjafni, ást [love], elskhugi, vili [will], munr. Thought (Huginn) shall be periphrased by calling it the wind of troll-women — and it is right to name any one wishes, and likewise to name the giants, or periphrase them by the wife or mother or daughter of one. The mind is also called geð, þokki, eljun, þrekr, nenning, minni, vit, skap, lund, tryggð [temper, vigour, memory, wit, loyalty]. The mind is also called anger — reiði, fjandskapr, fár, grimmð, böl, harmr, tregi [enmity, cruelty, grief], óskap, lausung, ótryggð, geðleysi [faithlessness, inconstancy].
